I'm guessing you saw these movies as a kid? This is why I believe movies to be so generational. When you see them as a kid or in a developing stage of your life movies stick with you a little more. That is also why I believe it is harder to form connections or like movies as an adult.

I was reminded a lot about the 2002 Spider-Man while watching this. The way the story unfolded, discovery of powers, the sympathy towards the villain. How it ushered in a new era of comic book genre.

One of the thing I loved about this film is it calls back to the way films used to be made, that is it didn't spoon feed you the story. Morbius is one of the smartest guys in this universe so it expects a little more from its audience which I like.
