Dom's Advice

In the movie Dom gives Ted advice before his date to "clean the pipes" or he risks "Going out with a loaded gun". He says that this will help think like a girl I guess so he is not too aggressive and cares more what she has to say. In retrospect, knowing that Dom was always trying to get to Mary was this actually good advice?

Good Advice
It seems logical and it makes sense for a first date. They do seem to have good conversations. Maybe he doesn't come up with the witty remarks with a loaded gun.

Bad Advice
Dom knows Mary and she did seem more aggressive towards Ted. Ted initially declines to come upstairs, maybe because he had cleaned the pipes. This could have set their relationship back if he fully declines.
